Doncare charity luncheon – Friday 20 April 2018

I was fortunate to be able to attend the Doncare charity lunch held on Friday 20 April and hear 3 awesome women who had so much to say to everyone in the audience.  Rosie Batty, Shaynna Blaze and Jo Stanley were the guest speakers at the inaugural “Empowered Women Empowering Women” event.  With 400 people in the room they certainly showed how they strive for a better community and use their high profiles to promote and contribute to societal change through advocacy and initiatives using their talents, skills and life experience.

I was pleased to be have a seat beside some amazing people and in particular the 2018-19 District Governor and his wife for Rotary District 9810.  Russell and Shelley Gurney and myself had a great opportunity to discuss all things Rotary and in particular a program that the Rotary Club of Doncaster has called LAARFS.

LAARFS is a choir aimed at people with chronic illness who use music to ease some effects of their condition.  Singing is great for easing pain and discomfort and with the LAARF Singers it is also free.  Everyone likes to sing, so escape your world for two hours and sing with us.
The LAARF Singers gather every Monday between 1pm and 3pm at MC Square, at 687 Doncaster Road, Doncaster.
